MH Delorme, also known as FOXTROTT, is a producer, vocalist and composer based in Montreal. Her genre-defying, unique experimental pop has been making heads turn since the release of her first EP “Shields” in 2013. Following her first two critically-acclaimed LPs (A Taller Us, 2015, nominated for Polaris prize, and Meditations I-II-III, both released on esteemed UK imprint One Little Independent Records), she is currently in the middle of producing and releasing a series of musical diptychs, started in 2022. Her work has garnered support from tastemakers around the world such as BBC 1 & BBC 6 (Benji B., Lauren Laverne, Annie Mac, Jamz Supernova, and more), international press (Colors Studio, I.D, Dazed, The Fader, Line of Best Fit, Nowness, etc) and has taken her to perform in London, New York, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo and beyond.
As a film composer, Delorme’s unique approach to composing for picture is rooted in her background in film and scriptwriting, as well as years of experience as a location sound engineer and sound post. With a strong sense of storytelling and a good understanding of the technical aspects involved in making a film work, she is always looking for fresh ways to approach scoring. Through her love for building unique sound palettes and exploring the boundaries between sound and music, she is committed to capturing the emotional essence of the projects she works on without relying on gimmicks. Her work includes scoring multiple short and feature films, including “Sugar Daddy” (Dir. Wendy Morgan, 2021), for which she won “Best Original Music” at the Canadian Screen Award. One of her most recent works, the feature film “Mà Saigon” directed by Khoa Le, premiered at Visions du Réel in April 2023.
In 2021, she participated in legendary label BBE Records’s critically acclaimed tribute album to David Bowie, “Modern Love” with her version of “Chant of the ever circling skeletal family”. She has also worked with Redbull Music Academy as a studio mentor, given workshops for music companies like Ableton Live and was invited by SOCAN to teach music production to groups of women musicians. Throughout her own releases and in her work as a film composer, producer and collaborator (Ouri, Jean-Michel Blais, Cadenza, Pierre Kwenders and more), Delorme flows effortlessly through different musical worlds without ever losing her distinct signature, at once accessible and deeply insular.
